The Accreditation Agency has produced a DVD - Quality of Care, Quality of Life which provides information for residents and their families, and people thinking about entering residential care, about the Government's quality assurance programs for aged care. The common application form, "Application for Respite Care or Permanent Entry into Aged Care Homes." simplifies the process of applying for a residential aged care place. The application form is for use across Australia and enables people to fill in the one form, photocopy it and submit it to prospective aged care facilities. The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has released the fourth edition of Medical Care of Older Persons in Residential Aged Care Facilities - also known as the Silver Book. It distils international and best practice literature with health professional groups’ views to provide advice on clinical best practice and systems based care. This edition comes in three formats: print, CD-ROM and can also be downloaded from the RACGP website at : www.racgp.org.au/guidelines/silverbook

Pain in Residential Aged Care Facilities - Management Strategies was developed by the Australian Pain Society .The guidelines aim to be "a comprehensive and considered exploration of the ways in which we can reduce pain and explore the quality of life of long-term aged care residents. The recommended strategies are based on the best available research evidence." The strategies document either be downloaded for free, or a hard copy ordered for $25 at www.apsoc.org.au.
