Day 1: Are we listening to older Australians?
The premier event for the Australia’s aged care sector, the 2011 ACSA National Conference, commences tomorrow Tuesday, 13 September, at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Over three days, an impressive program of speakers from Australia and overseas will focus on meeting the expectations of our ageing population from housing and residential care, to support at home and community engagement.
Conference Highlights Day 1:
- The Hon Mark Butler, Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, by video link from Canberra (10-10.30am), Patrick McClure, AO, CEO ACSA and Ian Yates, CEO COTA, will address a plenary session – Delivering on the Productivity Commission’s reforms: 9.30-10.30am - Plenary Session 1
- Lois Aronstein, New York State Director the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) which has a membership of 38 million people aged 50+. For more than 50 years, AARP “has been leading a revolution in the way people view and live life”: 11.30am-12.15pm
- Warren Hogan – Chief Economist, ANZ Bank, delivering the inaugural Warren Hogan Memorial Lecture in honour of his late father - a leading economist who reviewed pricing arrangements in residential aged care in 2002 resulting in the seminal Hogan Report: 11.00-11.30am
- Tony Jones will host a debate on “Winning the hearts and minds of decision makers” with panellists: former Minister for Finance Lindsay Tanner; Lois Aronstein; Cancer Council Australia CEO, Ian Olver; The Australian’s Kate Legge; and, Kreab Gavin Anderson Partner and Canberra Office Head Feyi Akindoyeni.
