Day 2: UK reforms aim to give older people peace of mind

The UK Commission on Funding of Care and Support delivered its final report - Fairer Care Funding - to the UK Government in July this year with the aim of giving older people peace of mind when it comes to aged care services.
The Director General of Social Care, UK Health Department, David Behan, will explain his country’s reform process to date tomorrow Wednesday, 14 September, Day 2 of the 2011 ACSA National Conference.
Conference Highlights Day 2:
- David Behan, CBE, will discuss proposals for a system of fairer care funding to meet the needs of Britain’s ageing population. The Commission based its recommendations on England’s current and future demographics – with a population of more than 51million the number of people aged 85+ is projected to reach 2.4 million in 20 years. - Professor Andrew Jones, Director of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) will discuss housing implications for older people from homelessness to the link between housing and care services: 10.30-11am
- Church Resources Cook Off. Actor, dancer, author and star of television’s Mercurio’s Menu and the Food Trail, Paul Mercurio will host a cook-off between aged care chefs who will have a set time to whip up a feast using a mystery box of ingredients: Bayside Auditorium, 12.30-1.30pm
