In Their Shoes - A Training Resource

This training resource for new and existing staff considers the individuality and diversity of older people in residential aged care facilities and what this means for the way in which care is provided. A wide range of issues are raised and illustrated with case studies to encourage discussion. It also includes a "For You to Find Out" section, so that carers are aware of their organisation's policies and procedures on specific issues. In Their Shoes has been produced in close consultation with care staff, managers and trainers working in residential aged care facilities.
It will give much needed support and encouragement to carers in a people's industry and recognises the care and compassion required 24 hours a day seven days a week." Ken Riley, CEO Ballycara Retirement Living Complex, Queensland.

"Comprehensive and appropriate to carers in aged care....case studies cover the issues that are of great relevance to the industry." Judith Leacock, Acting Training and Development Manager, Baptist Community Services.

"I wish something like this had been around when I first went to work in a nursing home." Part-time Carer
