Who We Are
ACSA is a Federation with six State associations which provide direct support, advocacy and training for members.
The aged care industry comprises nursing homes, hostels, home care and nursing services, retirement villages, independent living units and seniors’ housing.
Some 700,000 older Australians depend on care and support provided by our members in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote regions across the country.
By 2050 it is estimated people over the age of 65 will represent a quarter of Australia’s population.
At a national level ACSA has a key role advocating for the industry to ensure Australia has a sustainable system able to deliver quality services and care for our ageing population.
About ACSA
Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) is the national peak body in Australia representing over 1,100 church and charitable and community based organisations providing accommodation and care services to over 700,000 older people, people with a disability and their carers.
ACSA National Board
The ACSA Board consists of six members and a President who represent the providers of aged care services throughout Australia. The ACSA President is elected annually at the Annual General Meeting by the State Associations. Board Directors are appointed by their State Association, and their positions are renewed once a year. The ACSA Board appoints Directors to the position of Vice President.
ACSA Federation
ACSA started as The Australian Affiliation of Voluntary Care Associations Incorporated in 1975. This was in response to the then Minister for Social Security, the Honourable Bill Hayden, seeking to negotiate with a single point of contact and a unified voice for not-for-profit providers of aged care services in Australia.
